Zlatan Ibrahimovic was Manchester
United’s top scorer last season but the retired Swedish international will not
be at Old Trafford next season.
According
to reports (BBC), the Red Devils have opted not to sign another
contract with the former Barcelona star and he has been released.
Jose
Mourinho needs a top striker to replace Zlatan and reports suggest that United
want Spanish star Alvaro Morata.
According to Telegraph, the
24-year-old center forward has agreed personal terms in principle with
Manchester United, who are now negotiating a fee with the European Champions.
United hope that £60million would be enough to lure him.
As per Guardian, Real
Madrid rejected an initial offer worth £52million and United are now set
to make an improved bid of £60million. However, Morata has a contract with
the Los Blancos until 2021 and they want around 90 million euros from his sale
(£79million).
The former Juventus star was
mainly a bench warmer for Real under the management of Zinedine Zidane last
season. He could only start 14 times in league but still managed to directly
contribute in 20 goals (15
goals and 5 assists).
As
per the provided Telegraph link, the La Roja striker has told his friends that
he expects to be playing with the Red Devils next season. We shall see how the
transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
