We take a look at the
potential exits this season for Arsenal and the latest on their futures
Arsenal
have a big season ahead of them and Arsene Wenger will need to strengthen his
squad as the Gunners look to qualify for the Champions League once again.
The FA Cup holders have already
brought in left-back Sead Kolasinac and the potential arrival of Monaco’s
Kylian Mbappe has dominated all talk at the Emirates at present.
However, there will be a number
of players set to leave the club in the coming weeks.
Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are just some of the names linked with a move away,
although Wenger will be hopeful that he can convince those players to extend
their deals in north London.
So, what does the future hold
for the Arsenal players linked with a transfer away from the club ahead of the
new season?
Alexis Sanchez
The latest
Sanchez’s Arsenal future
remains up in the air and talk of a possible departure will no doubt carry on
until the start of the season.
The player, who is currently on
Confederations Cup duty with Chile, denied he will move to Bayern Munich when
asked by a reporter yesterday evening.
Man City remain confident of
signing the player, but Wenger will be hoping he remains with the Gunners and
pens a new contract.

What Alexis said about his
future
“I’m
looking at what my agent is doing. For now, I’m focused on the Confederations
Cup in Russia and trying to do well.
“The
truth is that my agent will see to it. He knows and he will sit down with the
club to look for the best option for me. I’d like a lot of things but I’m only
thinking about the national team.”
Mesut Ozil
The latest
Just
like his teammate Sanchez, question marks still remain over Ozil’s future with
the club as he only has one year left on his current deal.
Wenger
is keen to tie the German down to a new contract and he will be hoping he can
extend his deal before the start of the new campaign.
Reports
suggest that Wenger is willing to part with a number of players to keep Ozil at
the club on a new long-term deal.

What Ozil said about his future
in May
“I’ve
got aims with this club, we all want the top four and that’s what counts at the
moment.
“As
I’ve said before, in the summer we will talk but right now Arsenal stands in
front of any player and I respect that.
“As
I’ve always said in the past, I feel comfortable here. I’m happy. Arsenal
belong as one of the best clubs in the world and London is a great place to be,
a great city to live in.
“So
after the season we will talk and then we will make a decision from there.”
Hector Bellerin
The latest
Arsenal
have told Barcelona that Bellerin is not for sale after he was linked with a
return to the Nou Camp.
The
Spanish right-back has emerged as one of Barca’s top transfer targets and the
club believed they would be able to strike a deal for the player with the
Gunners.
However,
Arsenal have said the player will not be moving and Bellerin even took to
Twitter earlier in the month to tell supporters to not believe everything they
read.

What Denis Suarez, Bellerin’s
Spain U21 teammate, said about the right-back’s future
“I have
spoken to Bellerin but it is not an easy situation because Arsenal trusted in
him since he was a boy. It is his decision, and Arsenal’s decision. I really
don’t know what is going to happen but I wish he can come.
“I have
spoken to him [Bellerin] and from one side he wants to join Barca, but from the
other he feels very attached to Arsenal.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The latest
Reports from The Independent
suggest that Oxlade-Chamberlain could be sold by the club with Liverpool
interested in a move.
The England international only
has a year to run on his current deal and he is yet to agree a new contract
with the club.
Chelsea and Manchester City are
also said to be keen on signing the 23-year-old.
Bookies’ odds
Liverpool 5/2
Chelsea 7/1
Man City 8/1
To stay at Arsenal 8/13
What Wenger said in April about Oxlade-Chamberlain
“I want him to be part of
Arsenal football club for the next ten years.
“There has been a lot of
speculation about him. I understand that.
“He is a big player and we live
in a world where agents are linked to the press and can make the whole package
come up.
“But it all comes down to, ‘Do
you want to be part of that? What is important in your football life, here or
not?’”
Olivier Giroud
The latest
West Ham have a genuine
interest in the Arsenal striker and Slaven Bilic is hopeful of striking a deal
to bring Giroud to the London Stadium.
Representatives from the
Hammers have already spoken with Giroud’s agent and the wheels for a possible
transfer have been set in motion.
Other clubs such as Lyon and
Marseille are interested in the 30-year-old, although the Hammers have said
they will match any offer for Giroud.
Bookies’ odds
West Ham 2/1
Napoli 9/1
Lyon 12/1
Marseille 15/1
To stay at Arsenal 2/5
What Wenger said about keeping Giroud at the Emirates
“It has been a frustrating
season for him because he has not played a lot. And when he has played well, he
has not always played the next match.
“He has won us a lot of points
when he has come on because he has scored lots of times. He has qualities that
our team need.”
Jack Wilshere
The latest
Wilshere is set to return to
the Emirates in the summer after the completion of his year-long loan spell at
Bournemouth.
The club have yet to contact
him regarding a new contract and the 25-year-old could be one of a number of
players to be sold before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
Bookies’ odds
Huddersfield 2/1
West Ham 5/1
Newcastle 8/1
West Brom 10/1
Bournemouth 12/1
To stay at Arsenal 10/11
What Wenger said about Wilshere’s Arsenal future
“This injury has nothing to do
with the extension of Jack’s contract. I don’t know, we haven’t entered into
any negotiations.
“I think for all these cases
where there is only one year to go, we will enter into negotiations during the
break.”
Lucas Perez
The latest
Wenger has reportedly told the
Spaniard that he wants to keep him at a club, but it looks increasingly likely
that he will depart.
Perez found opportunities in
the first team hard to come by last season and a return to Spain looks to be on
the cards.
Sevilla and Deportivo are both
interested in the forward.
Bookies’ odds
Sevilla 13/8
Deportivo 5/1
Everton 6/1
Fenerbache 10/1
To stay at Arsenal 2/1
What Perez’s agent said about the striker’s future
“The idea is to be able to play
for another club. We want to leave and Arsenal already know.
“Do you know anyone who is
happy but has no opportunities?
“The key date is 3rd July when
Arsenal’s preseason begins.
“Anything is possible -the
president of Depor can do wonders while last year I met with Sevilla, who again
are interested.”
Kieran Gibbs
The latest
Gibbs
could be one of a number of players to be sold by the club in the summer as
Wenger prepares to trim down his squad.
Watford
and Newcastle United are both said to be keen on the player, although Arsenal’s
£15million price tag may put them off.
However,
the Gunners may have to lower their price tag if Gibbs is to move on.

What
Wenger said on his squad after signing a new contract
“We
have a very heavy squad at the moment so maybe we might lose some players. We
want to keep the strength we have and build on that.”
David Ospina
The latest
Ospina
is another player set to leave north London in the summer as he goes in search
of regular first-team football.
Reports
from Turkish newspaper Sozcu suggest that the goalkeeper’s move to Fenerbache
has broken down after talks between the clubs collapsed.
MLS
side LA Galaxy are another team believed to be interested in signing the
Colombian.

What
Ospina told the Turkish media about a prospective move to Istanbul
“Istanbul
may be a new adventure and motivation for me.
“If my
club are persuaded, it’s okay for me.”
Wojciech Szczesny
The latest
The Polish goalkeeper is set to
return to the club from his loan spell from Roma ahead of the new campaign,
although he is expected to join Juventus.
It seems that Szczesny will
definitely be moving to Turin, especially given that Gianluigi Buffon dropped a
major hint recently to the press about a move.
Arsenal, who recently rejected
Juve’s £4million bid for the goalkeeper, are thought to want £15million for his
services.

What Buffon said about
Szczesny’s transfer to Juventus
“He’s made the best choice he
could make. I also think though that Juve have made the best choice they could
make, because Szczesny, in my opinion, had a great season last year.
“He was probably the best
goalkeeper in terms of consistency, and saves made.”
