INDIA VS MALAYSIA, HOCKEY WORLD LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL: INDIA LOSE 2-3 MALAYSIA

India suffered a 3-2 loss in the quarter-final of the Hockey World League Semi-final to Malaysia to crash out of the tournament. Malaysia march into the semi-final and have also qualified for the 2018 World Cup which will be hosted in India.


India suffered their second loss in the Hockey World League Semi-final. The second loss was against Malaysia in the quarter-final which now means that India are out of the tournament. Malaysia scored their third goal in the final quarter to win 3-2 after four goals were scored by both teams in the second quarter.

9:26pm: Full-time! Malaysia hold on to the lead and they are through to the semi-final! What a win for them. India crash out of the tournament. What a moment for Malaysia

9:19 pm- Akashdeep fails to collect the ball cleanly in the circle. Another opportunity missed. Into the last five minutes of the match. Pressure on India
9:16 pm- Akashdeep with a brilliant chance! He hits a reverse shot but it is saved. Straight into the keeper’s pads. India still trial Malaysia 3-2
9:14 pm- 10 minutes remaining in the match. India trail Malaysia 2-3. Mandeep’s deflection is wide. India need one goal to level and keep their semis hopes alive
9:10 pm- GOAL! Malaysia with the lead again. Rahim coverts another penalty corner and Malaysia are 3-2 ahead. India need to find their way back!
9:08 pm- Penalty corner to Malaysia. They fail to convert. It has hit Manpreet on the hand. But referee says another PC. Manpreet asks for a review. It is still a PC
9:04 pm- End of third quarter and we are still level 2-2. Final quarter coming up in the match. We need a tie-breaker to decide the winner in this quarter-final
9:00 pm- Exchange of possession between India and Malaysia but India with the ball in the Malaysian half. Talwinder gets the ball inside the circle. Takes the hit which is just wide of the post!

8:21 pm – Malaysia get another penalty corner! Can they make it 2-0? GOAL! Rahim converts again through a deflection. Kothajit puts his stick down but the ball bounces off it and over the keeper’s head into the goal
8:19 pm – GOAL! Malaysia score. Rahim coverts a penalty corner. A simple drag which is deflected off the stick of the goalkeeper and into the goal. India 0-1 Malaysia
8:18 pm – Akash Chitke with a stunning save to deny Malaysia a goal. India defenders were all over the place in that play. Malaysia still on the attack
8:15 pm – Second quarter in play now! India under pressure as Malaysia are on the attacking front. They have penetrated into Indian circle more than India have managed to do in Malaysia circle
