Before this weekend it
feels sort of impossible to imagine anyone but Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar gracing the ridiculously dope Cardo-produced “Goosebumps”
instrumental. That was before this weekend, though, when PartyNextDoor and
Jeremih—who’ve apparently ended ended their feud recently—popped
up using the instrumental for a song called “Don’t Tell Me.”
When the song popped
up, people immediately began speculating that the two crooners had been given
the instrumental before Scott. Speaking with the folks at DJBooth.net,
Cardo confirmed that only a few people had access to the instrumental, and all
of them are rap superstars.
“Only three to four
people had that beat,” Cardo told the site. “That was Drake, ScHoolboy Q,
Future—don’t know if he ever got it—Rihanna and I sent it to Young Thug as
well.”
As DJBooth.net notes,
if Cardo did, indeed, Drake the
“Goosebumps” instrumental, it becomes easy to see how, exactly, it ended up in
PND’s hands. After all, he is signed to Drizzy’s OVO Sound.
What’s also interesting
about Cardo’s revelation is that it’s actually pretty easy to see any one of
Drizzy, Future or ScHoolboy Q absolutely destroying that instrumental.
If you can carry a melody at a high level, it’s pretty much perfect for you.
Still, we’re happy it made its way to Scott.
