Billionaire president Andrea
Agnelli has told the squad that they will be rewarded if they come out on top
in Cardiff
Dani
Alves has revealed that the Juventus squad have each been promised a
Ferrari if they win the Champions
League.
Juve are
bidding to become European champions for the first time in over 20 years when
they take on Real Madrid in Cardiff on Saturday night.
But their
drive for success has been ramped up after club chairman Andrea Agnelli told
the team that they would all receive a sports car if they got the job done.
Oxford-educated
Agnelli is the fourth member of his family to run the Old Lady and will spend a
small amount of his billion pound fortune on treats for the team if they come
back with the silverware.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Alves said:
"The only additional motivation is that the president has promised us a
Ferrari.
"I hope
the president will keep his word."
It is yet
another piece of motivation for Alves, who comes up against Real - the great
rivals of his former club, Barcelona.
But the Brazilian full-back has revealed that he could have been
playing for Real instead of Barca, as Pep Guardiola completed the 2008 transfer
from Sevilla from right underneath Real's noses.
Alves said: “I have never hidden the fact that it was virtually
all done with Madrid.
“But luckily
I was able to come to Barca instead.
