Ronaldo scored a double as Real
Madrid saw off the Italian champions in Cardiff
Real Madrid turned the screw on Juventus after half-time in Cardiff as
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a double.
In winning
the European Cup for a 12th time, the Spaniards became the first side to
successfully defend the trophy in the Champions League era.
Mario
Mandzukic had given the Italians hope with a spectacular equaliser but Casemiro
and Marco Asensio also notched for Zinedine Zidane's men.
Gareth Bale
made a late appearance as the La Liga champions added to their league title.
Here are how
the two teams rated during a riveting final...
JUVENTUS
Gianluigi Buffon 6 - No chance with Ronaldo’s deflected opener, although might have
done better to stop Casemiro’s deflected second.
Andrea Barzagli 6 - Magnificent challenge on Isco to deny the midfielder a shot
when charging in on goal, but caught out for pace a couple of times.
Leonardo Bonucci 6 - Probably the best of Juventus’ defence but even he was
overwhelmed when Madrid struck with pace on the counter.
Giorgio Chiellini 5 - Tasked with looking after Ronaldo and the Portugal hitman won
the battle.
Dani Alves 5 - A shame for the Brazilian that he couldn’t keep up his fine form in the tournament, with little offensive impact.
Miralem Pjanic 6 - Fought hard in midfield but beyond forcing Navas into an early stop, will be disappointed with his game.
Sami Khedira 5 - Started off well but Madrid ended up dominating the game and he could not stop his old side controlling the play.
Alex Sandro 5 - Like Alves, was not able to get forward with much end product.
Paulo Dybala 6 - His quick feet gave Madrid’s defence a lot of trouble, but didn’t cause Navas many problems.
Gonzalo Higuain 6 - Threatened early on and then teed up Mandzukic, working hard throughout but it wasn’t enough.
