Real Madrid are
preparing to make a third bid of €135 million (£117.5 million) for Manchester
City target Kylian Mbappé, according to RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi.
The La Liga and
Champions League winners are determined to make 18-year-old Mbappé their next
superstar, with Zinedine Zidane appreciating his explosiveness and mobility.
And Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez, always in search of a new superstar, is
ready to step up efforts to snatch the Monaco sensation.
Monaco have
already turned down bids of €100 million and €115 million from Real Madrid for
teenager Mbappé, but Los Blancos are hoping the third offer will prove
too tempting.
Mbappé is
also a known target of Manchester City, who had a €40 million bid rejected last
summer when the player was barely known to the world. It was recently
reported by Sam
Lee of Goal that City’s would shelve plans to sign a centre-back such as Virgil
van Dijk if they could get their hands on Mbappé.
Van Dijk is on
his way to
Liverpool if a fee can be agreed, so will City respond to Real Madrid’s
imminent third bid for Mbappé with their own new offer?
It could be
that neither Real Madrid or Manchester City are able to lure Mbappé away this
summer. RMC Sport claim that he is inclined to stay at
Monaco, especially with the 2018 World Cup around the corner, and the
principality club will respond to that by offering him an improved contract.
But if the
offers keep getting higher, with €135 million a world record fee by far if
accepted, the Ligue 1 champions may no longer be able to resist and could cash
in on their most valuable asset.
