Liverpool
are guaranteed to be seeded for the next stage but learned a lot about their
potential opponents on Friday
The Champions League third qualifying round draw
provided Liverpool with a boost, as they moved a step closer
to discovering their play-off opponents.
The Reds could miss out on meeting Nice, who are widely
considered to be one of the toughest sides Jurgen Klopp's men could face.
The Ligue 1 outfit drew Europa League finalists Ajax in the tie of the round,
meaning the Anfield club could avoid a reunion with Mario Balotelli's new side,
reports the Liverpool Echo.
Of the other four matches, Dynamo Kyiv's game with Young
Boys is the one could have bearing on the seedings for the next stage.
Kyiv, along
with Ajax, are the sides scheduled to be seeded if they progress to the fourth
round – but defeat for either the Ukrainians or Dutch would see Viktoria Plzen,
of the Czech Republic, seeded if they navigate past Steaua Bucharest.
CSKA Moscow, who would be next to benefit from sides with
higher coefficients being eliminated at the third round stage, will face off
against AEK Athens.
